Bracey Family | {Eastern NC Family Portrait Photographer}

Just a month or so ago, Duncan, age 41, was diagnosed with stage 4 tonsil cancer. Their cousin called to see about scheduling a family session for them during the short time between his diagnosis and first surgery. I had so much fun during this session and I think they did too! I hope they were able to forget about what lies ahead of them during the time of their session and focus on each other!

Update from May 17: They removed Duncan's tonsils, and 29 lymph nodes. He had cancer in the right tonsil and 3 of the nodes in his neck. Doctors say they think they got it all, but he still has to have radiation. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts!

Helping Others!

A few years ago I attended a photography workshop on Bald Head Island, called Learnfest. I was surrounded by 4 amazing photographers that led the workshop but also many other amazing photographers who were there to bask in the knowledge being poured out to us. At this workshop I met Jen, a gorgeous fellow photographer who stood out to me as being an amazing photographer and one of the most creative people there. Jen, now 37 years old, is a single mother of two beautiful little boys. However Jen's life has been rocked and she's now battling advanced ovarian cancer. After numerous surgeries as well as intense chemotheraphy, the doctors have given Jen just 12-18 months. I cannot bare to think about what she is going thru.

I've been friends with Jen on Facebook since the workshop and have watched her photographs and posts through her recent battle. She's in the fight of her life, and started this blog, Am I Still A Girl, on September 2, 2011 the day after her cancer was confirmed. Her (and her friends and family's) posts on her blog will move you to tears. Their and her strength through this all amazes me. I admire her courage, bravery, spiritual outlook, and her willingness to share her story, thoughts and feelings.

She has one great shot for a clinical trial at Mayo clinic. Insurance doesn't cover it...it is $63k. Can you help Jen Burgess Thompson out and donate? It could be just $1, $5, or more. But she has boys to raise and needs your help. If you'd like to donate, there are two ways:

You can do so, here, directly through Jen's blog.
Or you can here, through Photo Dough. They're even paying the Paypal fees for Jen!

Another article written by, Jennifer Bebb, speaks volumes, check it out too!

Haley {Eastern NC Baby Photographer}

Miss Haley was just a wee six months old during her session. She wasn't quite sitting up yet, but she sure knew how to smile for the camera!

Happy 3rd Birthday! {Eastern NC Newborn Photographer}

Today is my baby girl's THIRD birthday. At 9:45 this morning she entered the world and my life has been better because of it. I'm not sure where time has gone, but I know that I love every minute of being this happy girls' Mommy!

I wish I had more photos of her as a newborn. I decided to do them myself but with the craziness of being a new Mom and everything that comes with that I didn't do a full out session with her like I should have. Not only has Allie Grace changed in so many ways but I can tell by looking at my logo on this image just how much my business has changed within these three years too.

This little one makes my days so much brighter! Happy Birthday baby duck! xoxo

Hannah {Greenville Newborn Photographer}

Hannah's Daddy grew up in Eastern NC. He moved to Texas, got a job, got married, and he and his bride moved back to Eastern NC only to add a baby to their family shortly after! Isn't Hannah precious?!

Baby Bump {Eastern NC Maternity Photographer}

I have SO many favorite images from this maternity session. I posted a few sneak peeks on my Facebook page and made the comment that I can photograph newborns all day long and not get baby fever, but seeing the glow of a pregnant lady, makes me miss being pregnant and baby fever slaps me in the face! :) Ashley is absolutely glowing! Their little boy bundle should arrive within the next few weeks and I can't wait to photograph him too!

Do you have a favorite from this session? Leave Ashley & Wayne some love in the comments section! :)

Photo A Day | May

There are quite a few "photo a day" lists that circulate through the web. I forgot how I came across @fatmumslim, but I've done her photo a day challenges since March, although I dont stick to them very well. I think I might have taken 7/8 photos in March and then most likely the same in April. I'm hoping that the month of May will be different and I can stick to it. Now that I'm addicted to Instagram on my phone I shouldn't have any problem!

Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App

Maybe if you get stuck on one of the above things you can use the following list to help make up for it.

As long as you document your life in a photo a day, you can snap away at whatever you want. Here's just a little inspiration! :)
