Carrie & Tony | Columbia, NC Engagement Photographer

Carrie & Tony are engaged! I got to hang out with them this past weekend around the 4H area and nearby places. Through fire ants and all, I still had a great time with this couple.

Spinal Cord Society

Photobucket

You may remember this post from last year or recall some of the posts that I did earlier in the year letting you all know about this wonderful event. This year's Spinal Cord Society’s annual golf tournament took place on Monday, September 14 and was held at Olde Liberty Golf & Country Club in Youngsville, NC.

Normally I volunteer at the event by working at the registration table and then either handling the beverage cart or hanging out at a hole waiting for golfers to come by and selling them raffle tickets! However, this year our normal photographer,
Rick Crank, couldn't make it so Stephanie asked me to step in and photograph this year's event, and I couldn't have been happier!

Every now and then when golfers come to a particular hole there might be something for them to do or a certain raffle that's being sold there. At this particular hole this year, golfers had the option to cash in for a chance to win $5,000. But first they had to spin around numerous times and then hit the ball. If their ball hit the green then they were a winner. Unfortunately no one one this awesome prize. But it did make for some great pictures!

At another hole, golfers had the option of cashing in for another prize by playing a little game of Ladder Golf!

Each year after a morning of golf, players gather for an afternoon dinner. This years food was catered by
DaVincis Prime Meats & Deli, and was so delicious! It takes lots of people to make this event go by smoothly. In the following picture, top left, that's Salt from 96 Rock. He's been our MC for the last two years and he's wonderful! Hooters is an amazing supporter of the Spinal Cord Society and they donate many things for the auction as well as sending us some Hooters Girls to hang out around the course for the day.

But, none of this would happen if it wasn't for the lady in the following picture. Stephanie (on the right) is the founder and *strength* behind this event. She is an amazing person and an inspiration to be around, not to mention hilarious! Her side kick her is Nicole. Nicole and I met through Stephanie and this event and she's also logged many hours helping Steph with these events!

And one last image, of Stephanie and I.

Wish List & Holiday Cards

Photobucket

It’s that time of the year! Yes, the holidays are just around the corner! Time sure does fly by, it seem like just yesterday I was ordering Holiday Cards for clients, but that was really last year! With the holidays come family gatherings, lots of yummy food, ornaments, lights, apple cider or hot chocolate, and the exchanging of presents. What’s on your Christmas Wish List this year?

Now is a great time to stock up on those images or products that you didn’t earlier. What better time when family and friends are asking you, “What do you want for Christmas?” to say:
* I’d really love a gallery wrapped canvas of my favorite image from our session.
* I’d really love to have that image enlarged and framed really pretty to hang over our fireplace. (Or in your dining room, bedroom, kitchen, etc!)
* I loved so many of my images, but didn’t get them all, I’d really like to have a custom proof box of all of my images so I can look through them whenever I want!
* Never had a photo session with Megan Lane Photography but would love to in the coming year? Ask for a gift certificate for a session!

Here’s how this will work. Email me and let me know that you’re interested in building a ‘wish list’ with Megan Lane Photography, and I’ll email you a Wish List Form. On this form you will fill out your wishes along with email addresses and phone numbers of the people (husband, parents, etc.) who you’d like to share your list with. Send your list back to me, and I’ll take it from there!

Speaking of the Holidays! It’s time to get those Christmas Card orders in. All Card orders must be in by December 1st. This means all changes to any designs should happen before so the orders can be placed on the 2nd. Orders will be shipped directly to you, so as soon as you get them you can work on getting them in the mail and showing off your beautiful family!

Here are a few new designs just added to this years collection:

Mother & Daughter | Outer Banks Beach Sessions

I had a lot of fun photographing this mother & daughter on the beach. Tammy is the talented lady that redesigned my logo! We met up at the beach and even though it was a cold and windy day, we still put our feet in the water!

Relay for LIFE | Columbia, NC Event

Fight like a Girl.

Hope.

Survivor.

Life.

Were just a few of the words that you saw numerous times at Tyrrell County's 2009 Relay for Life. I went to opening ceremonies last year, but wished I could have stayed longer, but with a 3 week old baby, it just wasn't in the cards for me. Here are a few images that I did capture while I was there:

Photobucket

Columbia Middle/High School's Umojo Chorus expressed their love through song and they are an amazing group of singers.
Photobucket

The event was held at the Eastern 4H Center and the staff of the Center had a team. Here was some of their table decorations.
Photobucket

Survivors as well as family and friends of Survivors came out to the event to show their support!

The Relay Committee is already gearing up for the 2010 event. Relay will be held again at the Eastern 4H Center, beginning on Friday evening, June 4th, 2010 and ending on Saturday afternoon, June 5th. If you'd like to participate in the event as a team captain, team member or volunteer to please contact BB Hopkins ( bbtvo @ yahoo . com ) or Vicki Waters (vicki.waters @ ncmail . net ) for more information.

Luminaries are already on sale. You can help light the way to a cure for cancer and honor loved ones who have battled this disease. During the 2010 American Cancer Society Relay For Life Event, a beautiful and touching Luminary Ceremony takes place. Flames of HOPE are lit at nightfall to honor cancer survivors or in remembrance of those who have lost their battle with cancer. These flames burn throughout the night, serving as a reminder of the purpose of Relay For Life. White luminary buckets are $10.00 each and a Torch of HOPE is $100.00 each. If you'd like more information, please email me and I will be glad to send you a Luminary order form.
